In this infographic by Capgemini Consulting, we can see that even though loyalty programs have become increasingly popular, a large percentage of businesses are not using them to their full potential. In fact, according to Capgemini Consulting's assessment, many companies fall short of keeping up with the digital age in regards to their loyalty programs. They found only 25% of companies rewarded customers for some form of engagement (as opposed to transactional-based rewards for purchases made), and only 11% offered personalized rewards based on a customer's purchase history or location data.

However, this infographic also takes a look at several companies who have done their loyalty programs the right way. For example, Starbucks' loyalty program seamlessly integrates with their mobile app, therefore creating a flawless experience for its customers. While Air Canada has reported a 560% ROI by employing gamification techniques. The company has achieved this success by awarding badges to flyers that are redeemable inair-miles.
